Red Dragon is on in the background. As Will Graham, Norton is looking into a mirror and speaking aloud as he works through his thought processes.
Think about that. Think about what a marvelous actor you have to be to 1) narrate a thought process 2) make the narration and thereby the thoughts themselves sound organic and natural 3) speak to yourself while looking yourself in the mirror and not look like a douchebag.
Which Norton nails. No false bravado or vocal tics. Even as he is hamstrung by this director's choice of camera angles, his performance rings true.
Cut to the next scene, in which Investigator Graham is pondering the horrible evidence. The camera centers on his face and he frowns in concentration and I go : OMG THAT IS SO KEEEEEEWWWWT! HE IS SO ADORABLE WITH HIS LITTLE FROWNY FACE OF CONCENTRATION!
Can you imagine being in Edward Norton's position? There you are, trying to make a living and pursue a craft, and there are people out there who gawk at your work and go HIS WIDDLE FACE IS SO TOOT!
How bizarre must that be? I hope these people have a good sense of humor and a disregard for the absurd. Or else the best developed appreciation for absurdity possible.
I could mitigate my faux pas and talk about the fact that a great deal of what I find attractive stems from a certain set of skills blah blah smart-is-sexycakes. But does it really matter when the outcome is the same?
That is a Cute Boy. At like most things do when encountering Cute Boys, I acted a little stupid.
