To Quote My Friend, Jester CM:

"I feel like I'm gonna tho' up, y'all."

5:30 am workout. Circuit interval training. I am Out. Of. Shape. I couldn't even do the final abs exercises---literally could not complete all the reps, hold proper form, none of it.

I can usually *at least* do the abs routine.

Tell you what, I staggered out of there feeling like I got hit by the ol' Grundelfly.

Had to go home and lay down behind it before I went to work.

Nausea, piercing headaches, and some neck problems later, I finally grabbed some lunch. (I did eat breakfast, as well).

Am I skinny yet? No.

Riddle me this: why are the negative effects so immediate, and the positive so distant and long term?

  1. Age and gravity! Either or both of those is the answer to every question about body failures. For me it's both. And it gets worse with time unless you start living like a child again, although gravity still interferes with certain childlike behaviors.

  2. shout out to Jester :)

I ran 4.65 miles today. I should be skinny now too. Although the 500 or so calories of peanut butter I just ate might say differently.

  3. Orchidlover,

And gravity pulls you down more the more you weigh!*

LIving like a child again...that's an interesting statement.

Guess what came in the mail yesterday: The sl&v diary! Even with the headache I managed to read about half of it in one sitting. Thanks so much for the rec, I'm really enjoying it.

Have you gotten around to watching "Out of Sight" yet?

*Dubious non scientific fact, but feels true!

  4. Albeson,

I will NEVER understand you runners. I wish I could. I wish I was one. I admire you.

But my body goes into Death Mode when I try to run. Everything hurts. Nothing feels natural. I mean, my shoulder joints hurt when I run. WTF is that?

You and Bamanda are amazing. I jogged a little bit at first, but by the end of the workout it was a struggle for me to walk for the 2 minute intervals at 3 mph.

    I am a wuss. Blah.

  5. Hello Hawk,
Happy I am that slv diary reading you are (having a Yoda moment ;-). Very happy that you are enjoying the read. Let me know if you have any interest in all of my book review when you're done. Part of it is on a secured area of the board (too many priviledged words and thoughts for young minds).
Have not yet seen "Out of Sight" but added it to the netflix queue. Probably have not seen it because I'm not a big Clooney fan.
On "living like a child". Children are perpetual motion machines. When they eat, they will eat balanced and healthy if that's what is offered. They eat because they're hungry, not because the clock says it's mealtime, and they stop when they're satisfied because they would rather be in motion. Schoolage kids sit several hours a day (much the same as their adult counterpoint at work), but ask their favorite time and they'll tell you "recess". Adults suffer exercise. I don't remember a recent time that I got excited about going to the gym. We've lost the joy of perpetual motion. When I live childlike, I try to find that energy and joy. Just saying...
